Why Korean people said if you eat tteokguk it means you gain one year age?

Traditionally, based on Korean age reckoning, everyone gains a year of age on Seollal.

Sliced rice cake soup is a traditional Korean dish that Korean people would eat on Korean New Year's Day (Seollal).

That's why Koreans said after eating ttokguk, it means you gain a year of age.

(1) They long strip rice cake is a symbol of disease-free, healthy and longevity, and a prosperous year.

(2) The white rice cake has the meaning of the New Year with a clean, pure white heart.

(4) The oval-shaped rice cakes look like traditional coins, they symbolize a wish for upcoming prosperity for people who eat them.

Korean braised short rips, also known as 갈비찜 Galbijjim in Korean language.

It is a Korean beef with some vegetables stew dish.

If you don't eat beef, you can also use pork short rips for making this delicious cuisine.

Galbijjim is usually served during special days such as Korean Lunar Year (설날 / Seollal), Harvest Festival (추석 / Chuseok), or at someone's birthday (생일 / Saengil ).

The Korean word "전 Jeon" is often translated as "pancake".

But the "전 Jeon" here is different from western style pancake.
