This is the "Daebak News" I want to share with you today.

The Oxford English Dictionary added 26 new words of Korean origin.

1. banchan, n. 반찬
Small side dish of Korean foods, served along with rice as part of a typical Korean meal.

2. bulgogi, n. 불고기
A dish of thin slices of beef or pork which are marinated then grilled or stir-fried.

3. chimaek, n. 치맥
Fried chicken serviced with beer.
(fried chicken) + (beer) = 치맥

4. dongchimi, n. 동치미
Also translated as "Radish Water Kimchi".

A type of kimchi made with radish and typically also containing napa cabbage, spring onions, green chilli, and pear, traditionally eaten during winter.

5. galbi, n. 갈비
Beef short ribs, usually marinated in soy sauce, garlic with sugar, and sometimes cook on a grill at the table.

6. japchae, n. 잡채
Korean dish consisting of cellophane noodles made from sweet potato starch, stir-fried with vegetables and beef with other ingredients, it’s typically seasoned with soy sauce and sesame oil.

7. kimbap, n. 김밥
Korean dish consisting of cooked rice and other ingredients wrapped in a sheet of seaweed and cut into bite-sized slices.

8. samgyeopsal, n. 삼겹살
Korean dish of thinly sliced pork belly, usually served raw to be cooked by the diner on a tabletop grill.

Traditional Korean costume consisting of a long-sleeved jacket or blouse and a long, high-waisted skirt for women or loose-fitting trousers for men,typically worn on formal or ceremonial occasions.

12. K-drama, n.한국드라마
A television series in the Korean language and produced in South Korea

24. PC bang, n. 피시방
In South Korea: an establishment with multiple computer terminals providing access to the internet for a fee, usually for gaming.

25. skinship, n. 스킨십
Touching or close physical contact between parent and child or (esp. in later use) between lovers or friends,used to express affection or strengthen an emotional bond.

26. tang soo do, n. 당수도
A Korean martial art using the hands and feet to deliver and block blows, similar to karate.

These days, we can see many things seem to be getting prefixed with a “K”.
Such as,K-film, K-drama, K-pop, K-beauty, K-food, K-style.

기생충(Gisaengchung), Parasite is a black comedy thriller film directed by 봉준호 (Bong Joon-ho) in 2019.
Parasite is the first South Korean film to receive Academy Award recognition.

오징어 게임
(Ojing-eo Geim), Squid Game is taking the world by storm in 2021.
The nine-episode series has hit No. 1 on Netflix and in 90 of the streaming service’s markets around the world.

방탄소년단(Bangtan Sonyeondan), BTS also known as the Bangtan Boys, became the first Korean act to score a chart-topping album in the UK.
