Daily Korean Sentences & Phrases Learning

1. 앉으세요. [an.jeu.se.yo]

Please sit down.

= Please have a seat.

Korean Vocabulary

앉다 : to sit

Korean Grammar

으세요 / 세요 : Korean honorifics

으세요 / 세요 : Korean honorifics ▲

This grammar is used to speak or requests politely.

It is also used to give suggestions using in a well-mannered way.

When a verb stem has the final consonant, 으세요 is attached. 

When a verb stem has no final consonant, "세요" is attached. 

Example Sentence

(1) 여기 앉으세요.

Please sit here.

(2) 똑바로 앉으세요.

Please sit up straight.

2. 하지 마세요.  [ha.ji ma.se.yo]

Please don’t do it.

하다 : to do

~지 마세요 is used after verb stems to tell someone NOT to do something

지 마세요 Korean Grammar

Example Sentence

(1) 가지 마세요.

Please don't go.

(2) 웃지 마세요.

Please don't laugh.

3. 신경 쓰지 마세요. [sin.gyeong sseu.ji ma.se.yo]

Please don't mind. (I can handle it by myself)

신경 쓰다 : to worry / to be concerned

(you show concern or attention due to something is on your mind)

Example Sentence

별일 아니에요. 신경 쓰지 마세요.

It's nothing. Don't mind it.

4. 만지지 마세요!  [man.ji.ji ma.se.yo]

Please don’t touch!

만지다 : to touch

Example Sentence

(1) 비싸요. 사지 마세요.

It's expensive. Please don't buy it.

(2) 보내지 마세요.

Please don’t send it.

5. 걱정하지 마세요. [geok.jjeong.ha.ji ma.se.yo]

Please don't worry.

The difference between "걱정하다" and "신경쓰다"

걱정하다: to worry

(you are actually really "worried" about something)

신경 쓰다 : to worry / to be concerned

(you show concern or attention due to something is on your mind)

Example Sentence

(1) 내일 시험이 걱정 돼요.

I am worried about tomorrow's exam.

(2) 저 신경 쓰지 마세요.

Please don't mind me.

6. 다시 한번 말씀해 주세요. [dasi han.beon mal.sseu.mae ju.se.yo]

Tell me again, please.

다시 : again

한번 : once

말씀하다 : to tell / to say

해 주세요 : please do me a favor / please do it for me

7. 조용히 하세요! [jo.yong.hi ha.se.yo]

Please be quiet!

~아/어/여 주세요

when one's will be doing the action for you

(to help you, to cooperate, to benefit you,...etc.)

Example Sentence

(1) 해 주세요.

Please do it for me.

(2) 도와주세요.

Please help me.

8. 죄송해요. [joe.song.hae.yo]

I’m sorry.

Korean Vocabulary

죄송하다 : sorry

Example Sentence

방해해서 죄송해요.

I'm sorry for the interruption.

9. 지루해요. [ji.ru.hae.yo]

I’m bored.

지루하다 : to be boring / to be bored

( to be bored because of an activity or something that is not fun )

지루하다 meaning | Korean Talk

Example Sentence

(1) 이 책 너무 지루해.

This book is so boring.

(2) 지루해 보여요.

You look bored.

10. 생일 축하해요! [saeng.il chu.ka.hae.yo]

Happy birthday!

생일 : birthday

축하하다 : congratulate / celebrate



11. 실례합니다. [sil.lye.ham.ni.da]

Excuse me.

실례하다 : to commit a discourtesy

12. 감사합니다. [gam.sa.ham.ni.da]

Thank you.

감사하다 : thankful / grateful

13. 나중에 봐요. [na.jung.e bwa.yo]

See you later.

나중 : next time / later

보다 : to see

Korean Grammar

에 : is a Korean particle

It is attached after a noun

It is used after a time or place.

Example Sentence

지금 바쁘니까 나중에 전화해 주세요.

I am busy now, so please call me later.

14. 좋아요. [jo.a.yo]

It's good.

Korean Vocabulary

좋다 : good

15. 뭐라고요? [mwo.ra.go.yo]

What did you say?

Notice:

"뭐라고(요)?" can be sound rude if you are not careful with the tone of your voice.

It can be aggressive language while fighting.

“네?” is a better  word to use here.

16. 잘 가요. [jal ga.yo]

Bye.

17. 할 수 있어요. [hal ssu i.sseo.yo]

I can do it.

18. 목이 말라요. [mo.gi mal.la.yo]

I’m thirsty.

목이 마르다 : to be thirsty

19. 무슨 일이에요? [mu.seun i.li.e.yo]

What happened?

= What's the matter?

무슨 : what

일 : matter / concern

Korean Grammar

Noun+이에요 is to give statements or to ask a question

20. 좋은 생각이에요! [jo.eun saeng.ga.gi.e.yo]

That's a good idea!
